Brandon Snyder
Where did you go for undergrad and what did you major in?
I went to UIUC, and I majored in Urban Studies and Planning with a minor in GIS.
Why did you choose to attend DURP at U of I?
I chose DURP because of the wide variety of options and pathways it gave me. With faculty specializing in all types of planning, I knew I would get a well-rounded education that would prepare me for whatever path I took. DURP’s commitment to centering equity in its coursework was also an important factor that drew me in. Additionally, the department’s 4+1 program encouraged me to attend UIUC because I knew I wanted to work on an accelerated timeline.
What are your career ambitions?
I hope to pursue a career combining accessible design and urban planning. Bringing an accessibility lens to urban planning and development is a topic that is very important to me. After I graduate, I hope to work for consulting firms specializing in accessibility to create new public spaces designed for everyone.
